Looqate

Terms of Service

Last updated: 16 August 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern access to and use of Looqate (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service (including browsing the map without an account), you agree to these Terms.

This is a practical product terms page, not legal advice. Have a lawyer review it before relying on it for a commercial launch.

The Service

Looqate helps people find and share information about public toilets and related map places. Anyone may browse the map, search, filter for the current visit, and open directions. An account is required to view access codes, rate places, submit attribute suggestions, save default map filters (on your account and this device), and use contribution tools for eligible roles.

The Service is provided as-is. Map data and community contributions may be incomplete, outdated, or wrong. Always use your own judgement about accessibility, safety, and opening status in the real world.

Accounts

  • You can use the map and directions without an account. Creating an account unlocks access codes, ratings, suggestions, and saved filter defaults.
  • You must provide accurate account information.
  • You are responsible for keeping your signed-in devices secure.
  • You sign in with Apple, Google, or email magic link (including via native Sign-In SDKs in the iOS app when available for Apple/Google; the Android app uses the same web sign-in flows). Creating an account happens the first time you complete one of those flows. Your email must be verified (by the provider, or by opening the one-time link we send) before you can use the Service while signed in.
  • You may join an optional Android beta waitlist at /waitlist (email only, no account required), or on Android from Account when signed in or from the map. We use that email to invite you to Google Play Closed testing, including optional invite emails when a spot is ready. Operators may update invite status. You can leave while signed in, or email [email protected] to be removed.
  • You may turn on Save map offline to keep toilet pins and map tiles you have already viewed on your device. That cache can be stale until you reconnect. You can clear it from Your data or by clearing site data in your browser.
  • We may suspend or ban accounts that abuse the Service, harass others, spam, scrape, or attempt to break security.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Post unlawful, misleading, or abusive content
  • Deliberately submit false location data intended to mislead others
  • Interfere with the Service, other users, or underlying infrastructure
  • Access the Service through automated scraping except as we expressly allow
  • Use the Service in a way that violates applicable law or these Terms

Your contributions

If you add or edit locations, attributes, or reviews (including problem reports on a toilet), you grant Looqate a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce, and adapt that content for operating and improving the Service. Those contributions are not attributed to other users with your name or email. Problem reports and Account Send feedback may also be reviewed through our error and feedback tooling (Sentry) as described in the Privacy Policy.

You confirm you have the rights needed to submit that content and that it does not infringe others’ rights.

Operators and admins may edit, reject, supersede, or remove contributions to keep the map useful and safe. Who-can-use types may be suggested and accuracy-checked by the community; admins may also override the listed types. New toilets suggested by ordinary users stay private to the suggestor until an admin approves them for the public map (or rejects them). You may withdraw a pending suggestion by deleting it before approval. If a suggestion is rejected, it remains visible only to you until you delete it.

Roles and permissions

Signed-in users may suggest toilets (pending admin review) and submit attribute suggestions and reviews. Creating toilets that go live immediately requires a contributor or admin role. Suggestors may permanently delete their own pending or rejected toilet suggestions. Admins may edit toilet names, addresses (including refreshing addresses from map coordinates), and who-can-use types (operator override); set or clear which access code or cost suggestion is current; promote or demote community type suggestions; approve or reject pending toilet suggestions; and permanently delete toilets from the map. Role decisions are at our discretion.

Third-party services

The Service depends on third parties such as authentication providers (Apple, Google), email delivery for magic-link sign-in and optional Android beta waitlist invite emails (Resend), hosting, error monitoring and problem-report triage (Sentry), product analytics (PostHog), map tiles (OpenFreeMap), address lookup (Photon / Komoot), and Google Maps when you open Directions. Their availability and terms may affect your experience. Sign-in with Apple or Google is also subject to that provider’s terms and privacy policy when you choose that option.

Privacy

How we handle personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.

Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, or that map content is accurate or complete.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Looqate and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).

Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time, including by deleting your account from Account or requesting deletion on the delete account page. Account deletion removes your profile and personal ratings/filters; public map contributions may remain anonymised as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Provisions that by nature should survive (including licences you granted to published contributions, disclaimers, and limitations) will survive termination.

Changes

We may update these Terms as the product evolves. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
